A Star from Kirkus!
It's a STAR for A THOUSAND STEPS INTO NIGHT! ⭐ Thank you so much to Kirkus Reviews for the thoughtful review, which highlights so many different facets of the book, from the world-building to the twists to the themes:
"Empowered at times, powerless at others, Miuko comes across other women in dire situations, requiring her to question the cultural norms of what it means to be a female in an oppressive patriarchal society." ⭐ Read the whole thing here!
It’s real! ❄️ This is the first time I’ve ever seen We Are Not Free with both its National Book Award and Printz Honor stickers IN REAL LIFE. How beautiful. How shiny! 🌟 Because of the blur of the pandemic, sometimes it’s hard to believe these things actually happened, but they DID. They really, really did. So grateful today. ❤️

THREE MONTHS until A THOUSAND STEPS INTO NIGHT and I thought it’d be fun to share the first line with you! When I first set out to write this story, I knew I wanted it to be a little it beautiful, a little bit eerie, and a little bit tongue-in-cheek. It took a while to find the voice of this project, but I’m really proud of how it turned out! 💙 Pre-order for a folktale journey, a feminist fantasy, and Ghibli vibes!
